What happens when someone scans it
The phone shows "Join network '<your network>'?" and connects with one tap — no password typing. iPhones on iOS 11 or later and Android phones on version 10 or later do this straight from the camera app. A few older Android phones instead show the network name and password as text so the guest can connect manually.
How to make a Wi-Fi QR Code

Type the network name (SSID) exactly, choose the security type, and add the password.

Tick 'Hidden network' only if your Wi-Fi does not broadcast its name.

Frequently asked questions
Is my password safe?
The QR is built entirely in your browser and never sent anywhere. But anyone who can see the printed code can read the password, so treat it like a written password.
Which phones support it?
iPhones (iOS 11+) and modern Android phones read Wi-Fi QR codes with the built-in camera. A few older Androids need a QR app.
WPA, WPA2 or WPA3?
Pick 'WPA/WPA2/WPA3' unless your router is set to old WEP or the network is open with no password.
The code won't connect — why?
Usually a typo in the SSID or password, or the wrong security type. Both are case-sensitive.
Can I make a QR code for my phone's hotspot?
Yes. Use the hotspot name and password as the SSID and password, with WPA/WPA2 as the security type. Anyone who scans it joins your hotspot.
Does a Wi-Fi QR code work on a laptop?
Not directly — laptops do not have a QR scanner for Wi-Fi. It is a phone and tablet feature. On a laptop you still type the password.
How big should I print a Wi-Fi QR code?
At least 3 cm square for a table card, larger for a wall sign. Leave a clear white border (the quiet zone) so the camera can lock on.
Can guests see my password from the code?
Anyone who scans it connects without seeing the password on most phones, but a QR reader app can decode the raw text and reveal it. Use a guest network you are happy to share.
