How styling a QR code works

A style changes the look, not the data — colour, dot and eye shape, corners, a gradient, a centre logo and a caption frame. The scannable pattern underneath is unchanged, so a style can’t break a code as long as the contrast holds. The QR code best practices guide covers the limits, and the printing guide covers size and material.

Frequently asked questions

Do styled QR codes still scan?

Yes, when the contrast holds. Every style here is run through a real read-back check and only the ones that decode cleanly are shown. In the generator, the live status warns you the moment a colour or logo change makes a code unreliable.

Can I use the Instagram / YouTube colours for my brand?

The colour scheme, yes. The actual platform logos are trademarks — you add your own logo in the generator's Logo tab. The style sets the colour, the dot shape and the caption tag; the logo is yours.

How do I use a style?

Tap it here and the generator opens with that style loaded. Then pick your QR type (link, Wi-Fi, contact…), enter your details, tweak the colours if you want, and download.

Are these free?

Yes. Every style, every QR type, unlimited codes, no account, no watermark — and static codes never expire.

Can I change a style after picking it?

Completely. A style is just a starting point — colour, gradient, dot and eye shape, corners and the frame are all editable in the generator.

Which style scans best for print?

The plainer ones — Basics, or any dark colour on white. High contrast and a clear quiet zone matter far more than the style. See the printing guide for sizing.
